Evacuation
History has proven that the best reactions to a fire are:
- Remain calm.
- Do not tie up equipment that will be needed by the Fire Department.
- If possible, close the door to separate the fire area from other areas. This will reduce the spreading of the fire.
- If trapped in an office, close all doors, block the threshold area to stop the ingress of smoke, and telephone the authorities for help. More people are injured or killed by smoke, heat, or suffocation than flames.
- Each office is encouraged to develop their own evacuation plan based on their proximity to stair towers.
